How a Narcissist Parent Chooses the Family Role for Each Child: Scapegoats, Goldens, Invisibles

After I got diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and finally unmasked my family’s NPD/ASPD, I noticed a pattern: every narcissist in my family was named after their parent in some way.

In fact, that’s what made me different, and it’s something my narcissist mother always pointed out to me: my name didn’t fit with the family. I was the black sheep.

I then wanted to know how far back this horrific disorder that made love impossible was passed generationally in my family, so I took to analyzing my family tree, which I have dating back to the 1600s.

It turned out: the narcissism went as far back as the tree did — to some brutal, wealthy colonizing slave owners...sociopaths.

I suppose it shouldn’t have surprised me that slave owners would be sociopaths: understanding NPD actually makes a lot of the world’s most horrifying and baffling histories make sense. Nazis, for example, were narcissists and/or brainwashed by sociopaths. The same is true of fascists and racists today.

The human species is deeply sick, infected with a dark madness caused by child abuse, fallacies of power, and the effects of shame, and we’ve been passing it on through our family trees so that the sickness increases generationally. NPD is not nearly as rare as the statistics claim: those statistics are their own version of cultural gaslighting.

Since then, I’ve analyzed hundreds of family trees of people with NPD, tracing the disorder through the narcissist naming patterns to see if there’s a consistent pattern to who gets made a scapegoat.
