Most of the rhetoric on narcissists uses the same kind of flawed thinking that narcissists use: split thinking.
Split thinking means you see the world in black and white like a child does.
All good vs. all bad. Pure good vs. pure evil.
Therfore, the rhetoric usually states that narcissists never loved you; narcissists always knew what they were doing; narcissists don’t remember you; and you were simply dumb for loving a narcissist.
To believe that, I’d have to deny reality, and that’s not easy for me to do.
It is PARTIALLY true: narcissists never empathized with you; narcissists never emotionally connected with you; narcissists appreciated your supply, not you; and when they abused you, it was often calculated and purposeful.
However, is it true that they didn’t see you as lovable?
Narcissists project, and that means what they accuse is confession. Several narcissists accused me of catching feelings for them, so I know they felt feelings for me, and they were ashamed of them.
